Hey everyone! My name is Betty and I’m a small business owner. My husband and I are concrete contractors and work in the concrete industry doing residential and commercial concrete services.
Just wanted to share some tips on how to solve a stamped concrete installation gone wrong with color.
First, let me tell you what happened. Then I’ll show you what I did about it.
It all started one day when I had someone call me that wanted a quote for stamped concrete.
They picked a color they thought would be easy to clean and looked real.
Obviously that was not the case or I would of not been in the situation to have them call me to come out again to fix it.
Here is what I did to fix it.
First let me just say, having a color correction done is less work and cost effective than redoing the job again.
The next thing to do was pick out what type of color they wanted and see their previous color was already sealed.
Of course, it was sealed so they were limited on their options.
We had to mix a solvent based tint, solvent based acrylic sealer and xylene to get the color they desired.
So we made a couple samples after mixing everything and sprayed a few spots and let dry.
We waited about ten minutes for it to dry. They then looked at both samples and had to decide which color they were interested in the most.
Let’s just say they were very excited to see the colors and what the whole patio would look like after being redone.
They chose the color that was not as dark and a very natural look.
After all that is what they were expecting on the first job that was done, but it did not turn out that way.
Then we went to work with a compressed high pressure sprayer. It took us a while to spray the whole patio area and we also went through with a chip brush and went in the grout lines.
I will tell you what, they loved the new appearance of the patio. It was like a whole new patio and no one would of ever guessed it was just tinted with a color correction.
With all this being said it makes a big difference when having stamped concrete installation done.
Make sure you pick a color that is appealing to you and it looks natural.
